we set the date and picked the place....

September 1, 2010!

Little Cranberry island, Maine.

The Islesford dock Restaurant!

We are really excited to announce that we have picked the place and set the date for our wedding.... We hope everyone can come! We created this blog to list accommodations, and directions.... as the event gets closer, we will list ferry schedules, and all of the itinerary planned for the week of our wedding here....Everyone is welcome to come up a few days early and spend some time exploring the islands. We are really looking forward to showing people where we have been living! Please spend some time checking out acadia national park online. There is plenty to do here in the summer, and again, as the date gets closer, we will make plenty of suggestions and list contact information for various activities. For starters, check out little cranberry island at islesford.com. This is where the wedding will be. the website lists weekly house rentals for those of you interested in staying for more than a day... as well as ferry schedules, pictures, and events.Northeast harbor, and southwest harbor are the two main harbors you will be taking the ferry from to get to little cranberry island. It is a ten to 15 minute ferry ride to the island, and rates are about 8 dollars. In the summer, the ferries run nearly every hour from one or the other harbor. There are tons of hotels and cottage rentals in both southwest and northeast harbor for those of you just interested in renting for one or two evenings, and again, we will list all of them here in the coming months.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

we are encouraging people to rsvp with as much notice as possible or even if you are just thinking of making the trip, we would like to know as soon as possible because of the island location. We will need to notify the town for overnight parking passes and the ferries for large groups!

  1. Hello Lynn and Colin,
I look forward to meeting you lyn. It would be nice if you and colin could visit Saco this summer. I would like to come however i need a few more dets in order to figure stuff out. I am a planner so i understand being able to rsvp in advance. My directions to little cranberry island say a little over 2 1/2 hours from my house in saco. is this acurate? I thought it would be longer. I might have to make it a day trip because of my work schdule. I know the invites havent offically came out yet so If i jump the gun let mr know. Are kids invited? what about a plus 1? give it to me streight. weddings and people can be stressful so i dont wanna over step. what time is the ceremony and is it a sit down dinner, buffett or just snacks? Can I wear heels or is it out side with grass and sand? AS you get to know me you"ll see im rediculas. looking foward to learning more about your life together. This is my first ever blog experience dont know what im suppose to comment as.if i do it wrong please let me know

    Greer-
I didnt even see your posts until just now! This is my first attempt at keeping a blog.. so sorry for the delay in getting back to you.
I would love to take a trip down to Saco this summer. I'm sure Colin would like to visit with his dad, Dayleen and Nori too.
I'm glad to hear that you are thinking of making the trip! Im not sure why mapquest told you 2 1/2 hours... i think a more accurate time would be around 4 1/2 hours. That would probably be too long of a day trip...
Kids are not invited to the ceremony, but because most of our guests are traveling long hours, we have hired a babysitter who will be watching the kids at a near by house rental during the short ceremony. She is a pre-school teacher! We have only 4 children under the age of 10 coming so far and one 12 year old. To be honest, no, we don't want a lot more kids, but if its the difference of you coming or not, of course, bring them!
The ceremony is going to be outside on a lawn, weather depending... so no heels there- but trust me, ill have 4 inchers on for the reception.
it is a sit down dinner- lobster/chicken or vegetarian. But you will get more details on that with the formal invites and as the summer comes, this blog will be updated a lot more.
You can bring plus one definetley.
Look forward to meeting you too!
    Lynn
